Cameroon Declares November 30 Date for Regional Elections
A specially designated electoral college, made up of regional delegates and traditional authorities such as village chiefs, will cast votes to elect a total of 900 regional councillors. Each of the country’s 10 regions will appoint 90 councillors, who will serve a five-year term.
Cameroon's constitution designates the president of the regional council as the official representative of the head of state, highlighting the significant role these elected officials have in local governance.
Cameroon first organized regional elections in 2020, making this the country’s second cycle to strengthen regional political representation.
