British’s king evicts Prince Andrew from royal residence
As reported, the royal household confirmed that from this point forward, the former prince will go by the name Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and must leave the Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle, where he has lived for over two decades. Buckingham Palace stated that Andrew, who gave up his Duke of York title earlier this month, will relocate to “alternative private accommodation.”
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” the statement said.
According to reports, Andrew still holds the position of eighth in line to the British throne despite losing his royal honors.
In 2022, Andrew reached a settlement in a civil case filed by Virginia Giuffre, a US activist who accused him of sexually assaulting her three times in 2001 when she was 17. Giuffre alleged that Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked her to the royal. Andrew has consistently denied the accusations, asserting that the events “never happened” and claiming he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities when he hosted him and Maxwell at Royal Lodge in 2006.
Public scrutiny surrounding the Epstein case resurfaced earlier this year after US authorities reiterated that Epstein’s 2019 death in a Manhattan jail was a suicide and found no signs of foul play. Officials also dismissed claims that Epstein maintained a list of wealthy associates involved in his crimes. Renewed attention on Andrew’s connection to Epstein grew after Giuffre’s memoirs were published posthumously in October.
