Epstein Develops Ties with Border Officers Near His Island
Documents released by the US Justice Department indicate that Epstein provided benefits—including food, helicopter rides, and financial advice—to some CBP personnel responsible for monitoring access to the island. In return, he reportedly received “concierge services” from these officers, who “whisked him through inspections” and “helped him troubleshoot when he encountered problems at airports on the mainland,” according to the report.
The relationships, which were described as “chummy,” came under criminal scrutiny beginning in 2019. Federal investigators, including agents from the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, spent over a year examining whether CBP officers in St. Thomas allowed Epstein and his guests to enter the United States without proper inspection.
At least four officers, including a supervisor, were the focus of the inquiry. However, the results of the investigation remain unclear, and no criminal charges have been publicly recorded in connection with the case.
