United States, Iran to Hold New Nuclear Talks in Geneva—Oman’s FM

(MENAFN) Fresh negotiations between the United States and Iran are scheduled to take place in Geneva this Thursday, according to confirmation from Badr Albusaidi on Sunday.

In a post published on the platform owned by X, Albusaidi states: “Pleased to confirm US-Iran negotiations are now set for Geneva this Thursday, with a positive push to go the extra mile towards finalizing the deal,” Badr Albusaidi wrote on US social media company X.

Diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran resumes earlier this month in Muscat, followed by another meeting in Geneva. Oman continues to facilitate indirect communication between the two sides in recent months, acting as an intermediary.

As stated by reports, a senior American official indicates that Washington is prepared to proceed with another session in Geneva only if Tehran submits a comprehensive nuclear proposal within the next two days. The same official suggests that a clearly outlined Iranian plan could open the door to “detailed negotiations” toward a nuclear agreement, noting that an interim arrangement remains a possibility before reaching a broader accord.

According to reports, another high-ranking US official confirms the upcoming Geneva meeting but stresses that the administration of Donald Trump is still awaiting Iran’s proposal. The official believes the document is expected by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Abbas Araghchi tells a news outlet that the proposal is in its final stages of preparation. He explains that both parties are working on provisions that will “accommodate both sides' concerns and trusts.”

He adds that Iran’s leadership has not yet formally approved the draft but expresses confidence that progress will be achieved once negotiations resume.
